Abs
  1. Sit on the floor with your knees bent. Lean your torso back until your abs are engaged, creating a V-shape with your thighs. For a greater challenge, lift your feet off the floor.
  2. Clasp your hands together in front of your chest. Rotate your torso to one side, bringing your hands down towards the floor beside you.
  3. Without stopping, reverse the direction and twist to the opposite side. Continue alternating sides in a smooth, controlled motion.

Tips

  • Hold your torso at a consistent backward angle throughout the set so that your abs remain under tension on every repetition.
  • Drive the rotation from your torso rather than swinging your arms, so your hands follow the twist rather than lead it.
  • Move at a pace that lets you reverse direction with control at each side rather than using momentum to carry you through the turn.

Common mistakes

  • Letting the torso rise toward upright during the set, which reduces the backward lean and takes tension off the abs between repetitions.
  • Rotating only the arms and shoulders while the torso stays facing forward, so the obliques are not fully involved in the movement.
