  1. Adjust the seat height so the pads sit comfortably against your chest or shoulders, and grip the handles firmly.
  2. Rotate your torso to one side using your core muscles, keeping your hips and lower body stationary against the seat.
  3. Slowly return to the starting position with control, resisting the weight as you move back to the center.

Tips

  • Keep your hips and legs pressed firmly against the seat throughout the movement so that the rotation comes entirely from your torso.
  • On the return, resist the weight as your torso comes back to center rather than letting the machine pull you back passively.
  • Rotate only as far as you can control the movement without your hips shifting or your lower back arching away from the seat.

Common mistakes

  • Allowing the hips to rotate or lift off the seat as the torso turns, so the lower body is no longer stationary.
  • Using momentum to swing the torso through the rotation instead of moving at a controlled speed in both directions.
