Set the pulleys to the lowest position and stand in the center, gripping the handles with your palms facing up.
Pull the handles upward and together in front of your upper chest or face, squeezing your upper pectorals.
Slowly lower your arms back to the starting position, feeling the stretch in your chest.
Tips
Keep a slight, fixed bend in your elbows throughout the movement so your arms maintain a consistent arc from the low starting position up to the finishing point in front of your upper chest or face.
Stand centered between the pulleys with your torso upright and stable so that both cables pull at equal angles as you bring the handles together.
Guide the handles upward along a smooth diagonal path, finishing with your hands meeting in front of your upper chest or face rather than crossing them past each other.
Common mistakes
Pulling with a bent arm that changes angle during the movement, turning the exercise into a row rather than a fly.
Letting the handles drop back down quickly rather than lowering them with control, so the arms do not follow a deliberate arc on the return.
Shifting the torso forward or backward as the handles rise, rather than keeping the body position stable throughout the lift.
