Forearms
  1. Hold a dumbbell with your palm facing up. Rest your forearm on a stable surface so your wrist hangs off the edge.
  2. Slowly lower the weight towards the floor.
  3. Curl your wrist upward as high as possible.

Tips

  • Keep your forearm flat and still on the surface throughout the set so only your wrist moves.
  • Lower the dumbbell under control until your wrist reaches a comfortable end range, then curl it upward through your full available range of motion.
  • Keep your grip firm enough that the dumbbell stays stable throughout the movement rather than rolling in your fingers.

Common mistakes

  • Lifting the forearm off the surface during the curl so the elbow and upper arm assist the movement.
  • Using a weight that causes the wrist to drop abruptly on the way down rather than lowering with control.
