  1. Stand holding the EZ bar with an overhand (pronated) grip, keeping your hands about shoulder-width apart.
  2. Curl the bar toward your shoulders while keeping your elbows tucked firmly at your sides.
  3. Lower the bar back to the starting position with control, maintaining a steady tempo.

Tips

  • Keep your wrists straight and in line with your forearms throughout the curl, resisting the urge to let them flex upward as you lift.
  • Lower the bar with the same deliberate control you use on the way up, maintaining a steady tempo through the full descent.
  • At the top of the curl, stop when your forearms approach vertical rather than swinging the bar further by shrugging or leaning back.

Common mistakes

  • Allowing the elbows to drift forward and away from the sides as the bar rises, rather than keeping them in a fixed position throughout the curl.
  • Using a swinging motion of the torso to help lift the bar instead of curling it with the arms alone.
