  1. Stand tall holding an EZ bar with an underhand grip (palms up), keeping your hands on the inner angled part of the bar.
  2. Keep your elbows tucked into your sides. Curl the bar up toward your shoulders, squeezing your biceps.
  3. Slowly lower the bar with control back to the starting position until your arms are fully extended.

Tips

  • Keep your elbows fixed at your sides throughout the curl so that the biceps drive the movement rather than the shoulders.
  • Lower the bar with the same deliberate control you use on the way up, allowing your arms to fully extend before beginning the next repetition.
  • Grip the inner angled sections of the EZ bar so your wrists sit in a comfortable, slightly supinated position throughout the movement.

Common mistakes

  • Swinging the torso backward to help lift the bar, which turns the movement into a momentum-driven action rather than a controlled curl.
  • Letting the elbows drift forward and upward as the bar approaches the top, shortening the range of motion the biceps work through.
