  1. Sit at a preacher curl bench, placing the backs of your upper arms firmly against the pad. Grip the EZ bar with an underhand grip.
  2. Lower the bar with control until your arms are nearly fully extended.
  3. Squeeze your biceps to curl the bar back up to the starting position.

Tips

  • Press the backs of your upper arms firmly against the pad throughout the set so they do not lift away as you curl.
  • Lower the bar until your arms are nearly fully extended, then curl back up without pausing at the bottom.
  • Keep your wrists straight and in line with your forearms throughout the movement rather than letting them bend back under the bar.

Common mistakes

  • Lifting the upper arms off the pad during the curl removes the fixed position that the preacher bench is designed to provide.
  • Using momentum to swing the bar up rather than curling it with a controlled speed causes the upper arms to bounce off the pad at the bottom.
