Attach a bar to a low cable pulley. Stand facing the machine holding the bar with an underhand grip.
Keeping your elbows close to your sides, curl the bar up toward your chest.
Squeeze your biceps at the top, then slowly lower the bar with control back to the starting position.
Tips
Keep your elbows pinned at your sides throughout the curl so the movement is driven by your forearms rotating upward rather than your upper arms swinging forward.
At the top of the curl, pause briefly with the bar raised before lowering it back down with a steady, controlled speed.
Hold the bar with a shoulder-width underhand grip and keep your wrists straight rather than letting them bend back under the load.
Common mistakes
Leaning the torso back as the bar rises, which turns the movement into a body swing rather than an isolated curl.
Letting the elbows drift forward and upward during the curl, shortening the range of motion before the forearms reach a fully raised position.
