Sit on the leg press machine, place your feet about shoulder-width apart on the platform, and push the weight up slightly to unlock the safety handles.
Lower the weight with control until your knees are close to your chest.
Drive through your heels to press the weight back up until your legs are nearly straight, but do not lock your knees.
Tips
Keep your lower back and tailbone in contact with the seat pad throughout the movement, rather than letting them lift as the platform descends.
Stop the descent at the depth where your lower back begins to lose contact with the seat, and press back up from that point.
At the top of each rep, stop just before your knees reach full extension so the joints stay slightly soft.
Common mistakes
Allowing the knees to cave inward toward each other as you press the platform up, rather than keeping them tracking in line with the feet.
Bouncing the platform off the bottom of the range of motion instead of reversing direction with control.
