Forearms
Stand holding one dumbbell with both hands. Raise it overhead until your arms are fully extended.
Keeping your upper arms stationary, bend your elbows to lower the dumbbell behind your head.
Use your triceps to extend your elbows and raise the dumbbell back to the starting position.
Tips
Keep your upper arms vertical and pointed straight up throughout the movement, moving only at the elbows.
Lower the dumbbell behind your head in a smooth, controlled arc, then extend your elbows at a similarly controlled pace on the way back up.
Hold the dumbbell securely with both palms pressing against the inner plate, and keep your wrists straight throughout the set.
Common mistakes
Allowing the upper arms to drift forward or outward as the dumbbell is lowered, rather than keeping them stationary.
Arching the lower back as the dumbbell is raised overhead, rather than keeping the torso upright.
