  1. Lie on a flat bench holding an EZ bar with a narrow, overhand grip. Extend your arms straight up over your chest.
  2. Keeping your upper arms stationary, bend your elbows to lower the bar toward your forehead.
  3. Use your triceps to extend your elbows and push the bar back to the starting position.

Tips

  • Keep your upper arms vertical and pointed toward the ceiling throughout the set, moving only at the elbows.
  • Lower the bar in a controlled arc until you reach a comfortable depth, then press back to the start without locking out the elbows forcefully.
  • Grip the angled inner sections of the EZ bar to keep your wrists in a comfortable, neutral position throughout the movement.

Common mistakes

  • Letting the upper arms drift forward or backward as the bar is lowered, rather than keeping them fixed in place.
  • Using momentum to swing the bar up rather than extending the elbows under control.
