Forearms
Attach a straight bar to the top of the cable machine and grab it with an underhand grip, keeping your elbows tucked against your sides.
Push the bar down until your arms are fully extended, focusing on the contraction in your triceps.
Slowly return the bar to the starting position while keeping your elbows locked in place.
Tips
Keep your elbows pinned against your sides throughout the movement so that only your forearms move up and down.
Use a controlled speed on the way back up, allowing the bar to rise without letting your elbows pull forward or lift away from your sides.
Grip the bar with your palms facing upward and your wrists in a neutral, unbent position before you begin each set.
Common mistakes
Letting the elbows drift forward and away from the sides as the bar is pushed down, which changes the path of the movement.
Bending the wrists backward during the push-down so the bar tilts rather than traveling in a straight downward path.
