  1. Adjust the weight, kneel on the platform, and grab the bar with a wide overhand grip (palms facing away).
  2. Pull your body upward until your chin is over the bar, keeping your chest up and shoulders down.
  3. Slowly lower yourself back to the starting position until your arms are fully extended.

Tips

  • Before pulling, set your shoulders by drawing them down away from your ears so your neck stays long throughout the movement.
  • Lower yourself in a controlled manner until your arms are fully extended at the bottom, completing the full range of motion on every repetition.
  • Keep your chest lifted and your torso upright as you pull, rather than letting your body drift forward or lean back excessively.

Common mistakes

  • Shrugging the shoulders upward toward the ears during the pull, rather than keeping them drawn down.
  • Stopping the descent before the arms are fully extended, cutting the range of motion short at the bottom.
  • Using a swinging or jerking motion to initiate the pull instead of starting the movement in a controlled, steady manner.
